What’s Included

your journey, taken care of

What’s Included

Travel Editions tour is designed to cover almost everything you need to be fully present in each place you visit. The arrangements, the logistics and the details that can make independent travel feel like hard work: we handle those before you leave home. You can see on each induvial tour page exactly what is included in each holiday and on this page, we will go into a little more detail of what that means in practice.  We will also provide an overview of what is generally not included within the price of our tours.

Your Expert Team

Every tour travels with an experienced Tour Manager from the first day to the last. They handle the practicalities: transfers, timings, any adjustments along the way, so your attention stays where it belongs.

On our specialist Art, History and Great British Heritage tours, your Tour Manager is joined by a dedicated expert tour expert: a historian, curator, author or field specialist who has spent a career immersed in the subject and who changes what you see, and how you understand it. You can read more about our Experts by clicking here.

Getting There & Getting Around

All excursions are taken by private coach, used exclusively by our group: no shared transport with other operators, no fixed seating plan. On our rail tours, we travel together on the Eurostar from St Pancras, and the journey through France and into the wider continent becomes part of the experience rather than a means to an end. Your Tour Manager will be on hand to assist or answer any questions you may have; they will be very familiar with the journey you are taking and help you prepare in any way they are able to.

For our holidays within Great Britian the start and end point for the tour will be at the accommodation listed in the itinerary. You are responsible for getting yourself to and from the accommodation around the start and end times of the holiday which is normally outlined on the itinerary.

Where You Will Stay

We use carefully chosen characterful accommodations that have either been visited by a member of our team or come recommended by our trusted local partners. Every room includes private facilities. The standard of hotels may vary by different tour types but we always aim to provide a balanced description so you know what to expect when selecting a tour. The accommodation we choose is not designed to be extravagant but rather to provide a comfortable, well-chosen base at the end of a full day.

Excursions & Admissions

In almost all cases, excursions and entrance fees are included in the tour price. Where anything is optional or payable locally, this will be clearly marked in your itinerary.

Meals

Meal arrangements vary by tour and are set out in full on each tour page. Dietary requirements can be accommodated on request: please let us know at the time of booking so we can notify hotels and local partners well in advance.

When wine is included in an evening meal there is a reasonable allowance provided per person. If you are at all unsure then the tour manager will be able to advise. Following the amount which has been included then you will need to purchase additional drinks directly from the hotel or restaurant.

The Price You See Is The Price You Pay

We operate a strict no-surcharge policy. Once your place is confirmed, the tour price is guaranteed and will not be subject to additional charges. For almost all of our holidays, a deposit of 20% per person secures your booking, with the balance due 12 weeks before departure. If the holiday you are interested in differs in payment terms then you will be informed of this at the time of booking. Bank transfers, debit and credit card payments are accepted with no additional charge.

Your Financial Protection

Travel Editions is a member of ABTA (No. V3120), providing full financial protection for all non-air tours. Air-inclusive tours are ATOL-protected under Licence No. 3525. Your money is protected.

Before You Set Off

Final joining instructions are sent approximately ten days before departure, with all the timings, meeting points and practical details specific to your tour. If you have questions in the meantime, our team is available on 020 7251 0045, Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

Worth Knowing Before You Go

What’s Not Included

A few things sit outside the tour price and are worth knowing about before you book.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is not included, and we strongly recommend arranging comprehensive cover at the time of booking your holiday. This should include cancellation protection, medical expenses and cover for personal belongings. We can refer you to Global Travel Insurance Services Ltd, with whom we have worked for many years and who can accommodate a range of needs including pre-existing medical conditions – call them on 01903 235042 or visit globaltravelinsurance.co.uk.

Travel To Your Departure Point

Getting yourself to London St Pancras for our rail tours, or to the relevant airport for air tours, is your own arrangement. We advise against booking connecting travel until you have received your final joining instructions, as departure timings can occasionally be subject to change.

Gratuities

For local guides, coach drivers and tour managers and experts are not included and are at your discretion.

Personal Spending

Additional drinks taken outside of included meals, souvenirs, personal purchases and similar expenses are your own responsibility.

Single Supplements

Single room or Solo occupancy room supplements where applicable, are charged in addition to the tour price and vary by tour and hotel. Details are listed on each individual tour page, and our team is always happy to discuss the options – we do our best to keep these supplements as reasonable as possible as we have a large number of solo travellers who choose to travel with us. We do have a selected number of tours which have a lower single supplement, depending on the type of holiday you are interested in. Call us on 020 7251 0045 to talk it through or click here for some further information.

Visas & Vaccinations

Requirements vary by destination and are your responsibility to arrange in advance of travel. Up-to-date guidance is available from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office at gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice.

Your questions answered

FAQs

If you have a question, we are more than happy to answer it via email or phone, but you may find your answer below more quickly.

Simply complete our online booking form or give us a call on 020 7251 0045 between 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday where you can speak to a real person. A 20% deposit per person is required at the time of booking, to book your place. Payments by debit card or credit card incur no charge.

You must pay for the balance of your holiday at least 12 weeks before departure. Please note: no reminder for balance payments is sent to you and are not receipted unless requested. If you book your holiday within 12 weeks of departure, full payment is required at time of booking. Please note that some tours may require final payment to be paid earlier than 12 weeks, due to financial commitment with suppliers. The exact date will be notified to you at the time of booking. Final joining instructions and documentation will be dispatched approximately 10 days before travel.

In almost all cases, the price includes your accommodation, meals as described in the itinerary, all excursions shown in the programme, and travel arrangements from the UK. Excursions are taken by private coach exclusively for Travel Editions guests. If anything is ever excluded from the price, it will be clearly marked as optional and payable locally, you won’t find any hidden extras on your final bill. Travel Editions operates a firm no-surcharge policy, so the price you are quoted is the price you pay.

The specifics vary by tour and are set out in your individual itinerary, but most of our tours depart from London, either by Eurostar from St Pancras International or by air. For rail tours, we advise allowing at least one hour before the Eurostar departure when planning your journey to London. For flights, all costs are based on economy class unless otherwise stated, and all times shown are local time. For tours in the UK, these often start at the hotel in question.

Flight upgrades and connections from regional airports are available on request and subject to availability, contact us on 020 7251 0045 or at tours@traveleditions.co.uk for details. We strongly recommend not booking non-refundable connecting travel until you have received your final joining instructions, which are sent around 10 days before departure and confirm all timings and meeting points.

Yes, and you’re very welcome. Single room supplements apply on most tours, reflecting the fact that single and double rooms are generally priced similarly by hotels. If you would prefer to share with another solo traveller of the same gender, we are happy to arrange this, simply let us know at the time of booking. Sharing is subject to another traveller in the same situation being booked on the same tour.

Each tour is accompanied by a dedicated tour manager, who in most cases will travel out from the UK with the group. On some tours, the tour manager will meet you at your destination station or airport, with full details being confirmed in your joining instructions 10 days before travel. Many of our tours are also led by expert lecturers or specialist guides whose knowledge brings each destination to life; details of who will be accompanying your particular tour are included in the individual tour pages and itineraries.
