Trevor Edwards is a lifelong horticulturist, garden consultant and garden tourism specialist who brings more than five decades of practical experience to Travel Editions’ garden tours in Ireland and beyond.
After spending 25 years working in retail horticulture, Trevor changed direction to focus on garden design, project management and the restoration of established and historic gardens. In more recent years, garden tourism has become an important part of his career, allowing him to combine his horticultural knowledge with his enthusiasm for travel, landscapes and the stories behind notable gardens.
Trevor has managed and led garden tours throughout Ireland and the UK, across much of Europe and farther afield in destinations including the USA, Japan, India, Mauritius, New Zealand, Grenada and Barbados. This extensive international experience has given him a broad appreciation of different gardening traditions, planting styles and the ways in which gardens reflect their local climate, history and culture.
He is particularly well known for his knowledge of the gardens of Ireland and has lectured on the subject in many parts of the world. Trevor has also featured in and presented gardening programmes for television and radio, sharing his expertise with a wider audience. He was Gardens Consultant for the BBC television series Greatest Gardens, broadcast in 2026.
Alongside his professional work, Trevor is a Freeman of the City of London and a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Gardeners. He was the first Area Organiser for the National Garden Scheme in Northern Ireland and has held roles with organisations including the Ulster Architectural Heritage Society, the Northern Ireland Amenity Council and the Irish Garden Plant Society.
On Travel Editions tours, Trevor combines considerable horticultural knowledge with warmth, humour and an engaging approach. He helps guests appreciate not only the plants and planting schemes they encounter, but also the people, history and ideas that have shaped each garden.
